  Match Recap

Cinco @ Sun Sep 04, 2005 10:40 pm
Bollwerk was surprisingly close for Here To Win having its best lineup vs. a mediocre Annihilation lineup, plus Drew with 150+ ping and 20%+ packet loss the whole map. In the end, Here To Win's defense proved to be too much as Herbal went TOO EASY!, allowing durron to cheese 2 flags home to safety.

Face started off close, but on a flag standoff at Annihilation's base, Herbal was on top of their base carrying the flag and getting piston kills. Annihilation was confident that he piston camped, especially Drew, so much that he left the game because of it. From there, the game went 5v4 for more than half the map with both teams almost freelancing. Secrid comes in for the last few minutes, but the damage was already done.

A note about the alleged piston-camp

The flag standoff was at Annihilation's base. Herbal was on top with their flag, and whoever was carrying the flag for Annihilation was in the flag room waiting for a return. From what I saw, Herbal was running around on top with piston, between the two sides (armor and the opposing side) and also by sniper and the ammo. Let's refer to the rules...

4.6 Piston Portal Camping
Piston portal camping is illegal. This includes sitting on either side of a portal with a charged piston and/or anything in the spirit of portal camping, such as but not limited to, repeatedly running through a portal with a charged piston. Any violations will result in a forfeit loss on the map in question for the offending team.

When I say Herbal was on the side, I mean the raised part where the armor is. By this definition, he was neither "camping" the portal area directly with the piston, nor did I see him running back and forth through the portal. It just so happened that he had piston charging on top, and the enemies that tried to kill him couldn't evade it in the small area on the top of the base. At no time did I see Herbal camp directly in front of, behind, or next to the portal. So unless anyone has any proof that he did otherwise, the initial ruling stands.
