  Match Recap

Psycho @ Wed Jul 13, 2005 7:33 pm
Lava Giant
This map started out fast. Right from the beginning were back to back grabs starting with Team Drew.

The grabs didn't stop there. Continuous flag runs brought the Lavagint match from its original slow pace to a fast, cheese infested match.

Not a single cap was made on this map in regulation. Back and forth both teams attempted to run flags, only to get just beyond midmap before taken down. On few occasions did teams get the flag close to the base, but never inside.

Drew brought out his massive piston cheese to bring the flag accross the deemer ledge only to get pushed behind his base and standoff with quick grabs by Apathy. Drew lost the flag this time but comes back with the winning cap to win the game.

Sly brought Apathy to the closest point in the game to a CAP. With a little cheese and some help, Apathy gave Team Draw a run for their money. Unfortunately, the cover wasn't tight enough and Team Drew stopped a game winning CAP.

Throughout the flag war, Lavagiant tended to take a few lives of its own. Mostly Drew.

After overtime ran a good 10 minutes, Team Drew brought many to the front of the enemy base, destroying enemy as the FC ran through to the mid. The run to his base was not going to be an easy task.

Bretzky, Pain and Relic were the DM dominators in the match. Its too bad we dont have a head shot count. I think I would be afraid to know the results. Paz, Sly and Drew were constantly running flags. Each one of them made incredible effort to grab and hope for cover. many times, Sly would grab with only health and no armor, a bold attempt in such a map. If I didn't mention your name, it is probably because you either dropped or had connection problems such as Secrid. I never heard anything from the team about why he kept dropping. Unfortunately, they could have used an extra strong player.

Terra

Well, lets get it on!

This match was clearly one sided. Apathy had Paz and Burner runnong offence and Team Drew had Drew running with Virus. Offence on both teams were suprisingly equal. It was the defences that showed the big difference. Team Drew played a stong internal defence while Apathy brought their defence to the outside when a flag was taken.

Since most flag kills on Apathy were made by Relic, it showed that he was chasing the flag rather then waiting for it. Team Drew had such an even flag kill count that it was clear of there extroadinary comminication skills.

I am not trying to reveal too many secrets, but I think the picture speaks for itself how Team Drew confused Apathy to where their flag was.

On the other hand, Apathy had some exciting and difficult flag runs while Drew made a sandwhich; ham and cheese?

The entire match played out with Drew holding the flag for random amounts of time in hopes to confuse the defence. Burner made a few great attempts to get the flag home, but the defence of Team Drew was very consistant in their ways.

The match was finaly concluded with the overwhelming flag captures of Team Drew. Definately a team to be concerned about in the finals.
